Which appointment do I need?
Every appointment is a full consultation with a GMC-registered GP. The difference is where it happens and how long you book. If you are not sure, book the shorter appointment: the doctor will tell you honestly if you need more time, and reception can always move you. Read how an appointment works.
In clinic, Palmers Green
20 minutes (£90) for one clear problem; 30 minutes (£150) for more than one concern or a fuller discussion; 45 minutes (£200) for a complex history or a review of long-term conditions. Choose a clinic visit when the doctor may need to listen to your chest, feel your tummy, look in your ears, or examine a lump, an injury or a young child.
By video, anywhere in the UK
The same three lengths at the same fees (£90, £150 and £200), during clinic hours. Choose video for advice, medication reviews, results, mental-health check-ins, fit notes and problems you can describe or show on camera. If the doctor needs to examine you, they will say so and help you book a clinic visit or a home visit, and the video fee is taken into account.
At home, across North London
A 45-minute visit, from £180 depending on distance and confirmed before you book. Right for a child with a high temperature, an older relative who cannot manage the journey, anyone recovering from an operation, or a family who would rather be seen at home.
Can I be seen the same day?
Usually, yes. Most weekday appointments are available on the day you book, and the online diary shows the real times that are free. As a rule of thumb, if you book before the afternoon you can normally be seen the same day; later than that and it may be first thing the next morning. If nothing suitable is showing, call the practice and reception will look for the earliest slot.
When the clinic is full, a video consultation is often available sooner and can sort many problems the same day. Vaccinations and travel appointments are booked by phone so we can check stock and allow the right time. GPLine is not an emergency service: for a life-threatening emergency call 999, and for urgent advice outside our hours call NHS 111.
