What a same-day appointment is for
Most people book a same-day appointment for something that cannot wait a week but is not an emergency: a chest or ear infection, a urine infection, a rash, a child who has been unwell overnight, back pain, or a worry that has been building and needs a proper conversation.
The appointment is a full consultation, not a triage call. The doctor takes a history, examines you where needed, explains what they think is going on, and agrees a plan with you. If a prescription, blood test, sick note or referral is the right next step, it is arranged during the visit.
What happens at the appointment
Arrive a few minutes before your time. There is no registration form to complete in advance beyond the details you give when you book. The doctor will have those details on screen so the appointment starts with your problem, not paperwork.
You can choose the appointment length when you book. A standard appointment suits one clear problem; a longer appointment gives time for more than one concern, a complex history, or a review of long-term conditions. If the doctor needs more time than you booked, they will tell you and agree it with you.

Who you will see

Keeping your NHS GP
Seeing a private GP does not affect your NHS registration. With your consent we send a summary of the consultation to your NHS practice so your records stay complete. If you would rather we did not, tell the doctor and nothing is sent.
